[Essay Help]: GOVT 2305-Federal Government

GOVT 2305-Federal Government. The Bill of Rights protects U.S. citizens from unreasonable searches and seizures and cruel and unusual punishments while also limiting the government’s authority over our freedoms of speech, religion and much more.

Select 3 separate freedoms (not Amendments) in the Bill of Rights and discuss the benefits and drawbacks of each. Also, rewrite each freedom as if you were in charge of amending the Constitution and explain your reasoning. For example, maybe you would change the 8th Amendment to read ‘The protection against cruel and unusual punishment, which forbids the death penalty.’ And then go on to explain why you believe it should be worded that way.

Here are the Bill of Rights freedoms you may choose from (pick 3):

1.Freedom of religion

2.Freedom of speech

3.Freedom of the press

4.Freedom of assembly

5.The right to bear arms

6.The protection against unreasonable searches and seizures

7.The right to refuse to witness against one self

8.The right to be free from double jeopardy

9.The right to a speedy & public trial

10.The right to trial by jury

11.The right to a lawyer

12.The protection against cruel and unusual punishment
